I had never heard of France’s Haute-Loire area before I planned to travel there – and only then because it was, more or less, a midway point between two other destinations. Turns out it’s a stunningly beautiful departement of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alps region. (French Geography Lesson: There are 13 regions in France – not including overseas territories. Those 13 regions are further divided into 96 departments.)
My husband and I were driving from Provence to Brittany and the Haute-Loire seemed like a great place to spend a couple of days. I’m NOT going to call it a Pit Stop – because it turned out to be oh-so-magical. I hope these photos – of delightful doors from three towns in the Haute-Loire – give you a glimpse of why we found this departement so breathtaking.
